CO2 CUBES: Visualize a Tonne of Change

CO2 CUBES: Visualize a Tonne of Change is a live multimedia art exhibit that was unveiled on 7 December 2009 at 17:30 at the Tycho Brahe Planetarium in Copenhagen, for the launch of COP-15, the historic United Nations Climate Change Conference. This interactive art experience, which will be up through 18 December,  enables participants to physically and virtually take part in the global dialogue by providing a portal for sharing ideas and solutions about how to be climate change agents.

What does one metric tonne of CO2 look like?

Measured and stored at standard atmospheric pressure, one tonne of CO2 occupies a cube the size of a three-story building 8.2m x 8.2m x 8.2m (27ft x 27ft x 27ft)! This is the amount of CO2 the average person in an industrialized country emits each month.

CO2 CUBES – Visualize a Tonne of Change is presented by Millennium ART in partnership with the United Nations Department of Public Information, powered by Google and YouTube, and produced by Obscura Digital.
