How Big is 1 Metric Tonne of CO2?

Measured and stored at standard atmospheric pressure,
1 tonne of CO2 = 8m³ (27 feet³).

This is the size of a three-story building!

How Many Cubes Does it Take?

With greenhouse gas emissions being invisible to the human eye, it’s difficult to realize the significance behind the fact that the average person in an industrialized country emits 1 tonne of CO2 each month, and each day 80 million tonnes (cubes) of COare emitted worldwide*.

In one year:

  • The average American releases 22.9 Tonnes of CO2
  • The average European releases 10.6 Tonnes of CO2
  • The average Sub-Saharan releases 4.5 Tonnes of CO2
  • The average Indian releases 1.8 Tonnes of CO2

Our goal is for everyone to emit one tonne less in a year. Can you commit to change? Simple things you can do to help stop global warming.
